Nothing like Starting Your Preschool Years at Batai

The children’s house is one of the oldest preschools in the country that has been making a quiet but steady difference in the lives of young children since 1986. Our first school started in a quiet, leafy part of Damansara Heights with just five children. Through the years, the children have come and gone and they have continued to enjoy learning and growing in a secure, safe and loving environment.

Located next door to our first preschool, The children’s house Batai, Damansara Heights was established in September 2000, to meet an overwhelming demand for quality toddler care; this was also where we launched the pre-tots programme. The preschool has a cosy and fun front and back garden enjoyed by the little ones.

We keep the surroundings of our Batai preschool as green as possible to ensure children have a healthy environment to grow and flourish. We encourage our pupils to explore nature and learn how nature contributes to our well-being. This helps us in providing holistic development for the children.

Parents and teachers are closely involved in the process, leading to the wholesome development of the child. “The development of language is part of the development of the personality, for words are the natural means of expressing thoughts and establishing an understanding between people,” says Dr Maria Montessori.

The Montessori method for early years

The Montessori method of teaching believes that children are endowed with the capacity to learn and absorb information from the world around them. The self-correcting feature of the didactic materials developed by Dr Maria Montessori ensures that each child is able to learn at their own pace while fostering a sense of independence in them.

Your child has a opportunity to learn from a variety of materials which includes home-like materials like jugs, spoons, ladle, trays; sensory materials, language materials and number work materials. Every activity is designed to promote the social, emotional, cognitive and physical abilities of your child.

Nature is a very important part of the Montessori curriculum and every preschool at The children’s house is dedicated to providing the best possible experience for your child. The didactic materials are combined with nature walks and talks, cultural activities and projects to provide a perfect balance of academic and play-based curriculum to your child.

What Parents Say

  • “Ryan loves The children’s house. He has developed into this fearless, sweet, polite, warm and gentle boy, all thanks to the good education and love from his aunties and friends.”

    Mr and Mrs Dalton
    Parents of Ryan
  • “When my daughter, at two and a half turned to me to utter her first sentence in English, then she spoke French to her father and to my mother’s helper in Malay, I understood why Dr. Maria Montessori described the child’s mind as magical!”

    Mr and Mrs Civel
    Parents of Fleur Civel
  • “We will never forget the day we brought Chloe to your school for a visit. We asked her if she liked the school in all its bright red and white tones and she said yes without hesitation. She refused to leave when it was time to go after being given some time to play with the other children.”

    Mr and Mrs Chan
    Parents of Chloe Chan
  • “My involvement with The children’s house began 28 years ago when I was looking for a preschool for my daughter. I searched high and low for the one that fulfilled my checklist – quality education, a clean environment and dedicated, friendly staff. I visited 8 preschools, but none matched my expectations. Finally, I stumbled upon a quaint, red and white preschool along Jalan Ampang called The children’s house, which was also recommended by a friend. It was one of the best accidental finds of my life.”

    Mr and Mrs Aris
Parents of Reena, Alang and Riya
  • We would like to commend Aunties Zandra and Sabrina in particular for consistently delivering high quality sessions that engage the children – the effort in lesson preparation, setting up special interesting filters, making finger puppets etc., are noticed and appreciated. We appreciate all the hard work being put in to make the best of the situation. Please keep it up and we wish all of you best of luck as we navigate the new challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
