Montessori Playgroup (Toddler)
We all know how active and curious toddlers are, with a natural desire to observe, touch and manipulate everything that they see. Hence, at The children’s house, we capture the very nature of inquisitiveness and attention by communicating through naming and listening games, storytelling, singing and rhyming. Their desire to imitate the activities leads to the absorption of new words and their vocabulary soon builds up and expands to form new sentences.
The Montessori approach to learning
The didactic learning materials in the Montessori method of education have been thoughtfully designed through years of extensive research by Dr Maria Montessori. Everything at the preschool is child-sized and child-friendly and the curriculum strives to meet the individual needs of the child instead of binding them in a rigid sequence. The learning materials in the Montessori approach work on all the vital areas of child development.
Real materials such as bowls, spoons, and trays are included to help the child imitate physical tasks. The home-like activities of spooning, pouring, carrying and many more are incorporated to enhance the child’s concentration, develop coordination and movement and above all foster independence.
The sensory materials are designed for the multi-sensory development of the child which includes refining the child’s senses such as tactile, auditory, visual, chromatic, gustatory and more.
Creating a happy and motivated toddler
We believe in creating a home away from home for our toddlers. Caregivers provide a loving and secure environment where trust is built through care and participation in routine activities with friends, such as observing a positive meal-time behaviour and putting away toys after play. Toddlers develop gross-motor skills and improve their concentration span as they perform activities like pouring, sponging and spooning amongst others. Toddlers have a natural desire to succeed in what they do and this is encouraged through repetitive tasks that motivate them to do everything themselves until they master the task. This not only fosters independence and but also creates a sense of accomplishment in the toddler.

Wholesome development through Toddler programme
The toddler programme is specially designed to promote the development of social, emotional, cognitive, intellectual, speech and language abilities of the child. Art and music are woven into each day with singing, dance and fine art always available to each child. The Toddler program takes advantage of the toddler’s natural drive to act independently. Montessori advances each child’s growth and development through a rich and well-prepared environment designed just for toddlers. The classrooms are a special place for the young child to begin his/her steps towards independence and self-reliance.
Children enjoy a range of afterschool and enrichment programs that stimulate them to explore and learn while engaging in playing and other creative activities. We also create opportunities for parent engagement and build a close connection with parents to support child’s needs. Events like culture day are a great opportunity for parents and children to come together and celebrate the ideas, thoughts and creativity of the children.
Play – Play creates a range of opportunities for the pre-toddlers to explore and learn from the world around them. It helps the children improve their physical abilities, language skills, cognitive abilities and they learn how to deal with different emotions, learning about themselves and what they are capable of. With play, they also develop social skills and moral values as they learn to become active participants in the social world.
We host various activities for the benefit of both parents and children. Our programmes like Infant Carnival are not only enjoyable for the babies but also a great session for the parents to get tips from parenting experts.
At The children’s house, we are motivated to raise a generation of children who are well-balanced, compassionate, resilient and environmentally responsible through the integrated Montessori curriculum. The educators and caregivers at the preschool are well trained and experienced in creating memorable and positive learning experiences for the children. We believe that parents are an essential part of a child’s learning journey. Hence, we build close partnerships with parents and invite them to join us in supporting the child’s needs.
The language materials have been specially designed to help the child get a hold of the writing instrument and form the various letters easily. Children learn how to identify the phonetic sounds and use the technique to gradually move from simple words to complex sentences.
The number work learning materials help in inculcating an interested in various mathematical concepts from counting and matching to four operations and decimals.
The Montessori approach recognises the deep connection between nature and a child’s development. Hence, experiencing the natural environment is an essential part of the curriculum. Children are involved in various cultural activities and projects that help the child discover more about themselves and understand the world in a better way. Music, art and craft form an integral part of these activities.
